Creating a safe and supportive environment is important for building community in the preschool classroom. We can improve our interactions with children by joining them in their play and asking open ended questions. With open ended questions, there is no pressure for children to answer correctly and we can extend their learning in a meaningful way.
I love using wordless picture books in my classroom. The illustrations stand on their own so they are perfect for encouraging young children to read independently. The stories that they come up with are full of imagination and creativity, and there are countless stories to be told within each book.
